Hilary Dahlman
On March 26, 2012, Hilary Dahlman assumed the role of Dean of Students at the Brooklyn Center Campus. Hilary began her time with GEN in July 2006 at Globe in Oakdale and has held several roles including adjunct faculty, Writing Center Coordinator, Academic Coordinator, and Associate Dean.
Hilary’s educational background includes a BA in English from Metro State and an MFA in Writing from Hamline. Hilary has always enjoyed writing. When she was in sixth grade, she was allowed to write a book rather than do the traditional curriculum that the other students followed. She wrote a twenty-one chapter story about a girl named Dandelion who died in a tragic ferris wheel accident.
Thinking back over her past jobs, Hilary believes that the most interesting job she ever held was as a Japanese Beetle trapper for the MN Department of Agriculture. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, reading, writing, watching movies, and gorging herself on reality cable television shows. Some of her favorites are NatGeo Taboo, Bridezillas, Pawn Stars, Ax Men, and Intervention. However, she really only watches these when she is at someone else’s house who has cable. One last hobby worth mentioning is driving Ann Deiman, Dean of Faculty at the Brooklyn Center Campus, crazy with the game, “Would you rather?”
