Hairy Legs, High Heels: All for a Good Cause

Irene Rangen, Massage Therapy Chair at Minnesota School of Business-St. Cloud and Massage Therapy student, Annette Miller Ross, recently donated their expertise to massage sore feet–and sometimes hairy legs–in the fourth annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in Baxter, Minnesota. (And yes, many of those legs were attached to men!)

The Women’s Center of Mid-Minnesota and Sexual Assault Services sponsors the fundraising event: “An International Men’s March to End Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence.”  Walking a mile in high heels, participants try to raise money and awareness for the two non-profit advocacy organizations. Awards are given for the Best Strut, Hairiest Leg and Best Decorated Shoe.

Rangen and Miller Ross donated their services at the end of the mile when participants needed a massage most. Rangen says she values the mission of the event. “It focuses on a very important issue that people don’t like to talk about.  The community comes together to raise awareness and empower individuals to hold themselves and each other accountable.” “Plus,” she adds, “it’s fun to see the high school football team and
politicians in pretty shoes!”
