Students and staff from the Minnesota School of Business in Moorhead were official chocolate experts for a day. It was all a part of the 29th Annual YWCA Chocolate Fantasy Event at the Holiday Inn in Fargo. Over 50 people from the campus volunteered at the event, to help raise funds for YWCA Cass-Clay Emergency Shelter.
This annual fundraiser offers participants the opportunity to sample hundreds of chocolate desserts as well as chili with all the fixings. In addition, an excellent assortment of silent auction items will be available for bidding.
The Moorhead campus was a sponsor of the event along with some other organizations in the Fargo-Moorhead Community. All of the chocolate desserts were donated by local companies and individuals.
Global Citizenship students spent an entire day filling trays, greeting patrons, and helping with silent auction items as a service-learning project. Over 20 staff members also spent time volunteering at the event as well, dishing out various types of chocolate desserts, helping clean, and serving tables.
“The YWCA Cass Clay is fortunate to partner with the Minnesota School of Business. MSB’s participation in our Chocolate Fantasy and Chili Too! event is just one of the many ways they support our mission and programs,” said YWCA Executive Director Erin Prochnow. “Thanks to their support, we will continue to positively impact our community and carry out our mission of empowering women and children and eliminating racism – and for that we are very grateful.”
This experience was also an enjoyable experience for all volunteers, partly because they had the chance to taste some of the treats after they finished volunteering.
