MINNEAPOLIS — October 5,   2012 – Globe University and The Minnesota School of Business (MSB) announced   today that effective October 8, the beginning of fall quarter, the school   will reduce its overall tuition for students enrolled in the Bachelor   of Science in Nursing (BSN) program by a total of $11,900 over the course   of the program. The accredited program offers nursing students the   opportunity to receive a bachelor’s degree in less time than traditional   programs while still providing the same quality, hands-on experiences they   would receive at other education institutions.

The school hopes to   attract students to its growing nursing program. “Our program offers quality   education to the future nurses of our health care systems,” saidJeff Myhre, vice president atGlobeUniversity  and The Minnesota School of Business. “We want to help reduce the barriers   that our students may be facing by reducing the cost-per-credit load on our   nursing tuition.”

The call for   educating more nurses in theU.S.  has come in part from a comprehensive report written by the Institute of   Medicine (IOM). One of the report’s principal recommendations is to “increase   the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80 percent by 2020.”

The bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree program at MSB   is currently offered at its Richfield campus. The twelve-quarter   (three-year) nursing degree program provides rigorous training for the   NCLEX-RN exam and helps students prepare to practice in a diverse   global community.

In the most recent reporting year of 2011 the college’s   nursing program had a 95 percent retention rate and 97 percent job placement   rate.
