Health Commissioner Recognizes Minnesota School of Business Students

Minnesota School of Business-St. Cloud students were recently recognized as Dr. Ed Ehlinger, Commissioner of Health for the state of Minnesota, visited the Harold P. Nelson Healthy Living Trail in Waite Park. Minnesota School of Business interactive media and graphic design students collaborated with the city to design the signage for the trail.

Waite Park Mayor Rick Miller and City Administrator Shaunna Johnson welcomed the commissioner and led a tour along the trail, describing the students’ work and design themes along the walk. Students created welcome signs, tips for reducing cancer, and medicinal plant identification. They designed logos and layout as well as planned color schemes.

J. R. Burgess, managing partner of ReJuv Medical, also spoke as a partner with the city on the development of the trail, including his recommendations for exercise equipment along the trail. (ReJuv is also a community partner with MSB, utilizing health fitness program interns and hiring graduates.)

Waite Park native, Harold P. Nelson, donated $150,000 to the city as part of his estate, and along with a SHIP (health improvement) grant from the state, Waite Park had funding to launch this project to promote healthy living in a local park. Nelson’s widow, Mary Ellen, was at the dedication.
