On Friday, September 27, 2012, paralegal students from the Lakeville and Shakopee Minnesota School of Business campuses attended an e-filing training at the Hennepin County Government Center downtown Minneapolis. As of September 1st of this year, all Civil and Family law cases in Hennepin and Ramsey counties are required to be filed electronically. The president of the paralegal club at the Shakopee campus, Katalina Meyer, organized the training as part of the club’s initiative to stay current with local court procedures and build student resumes.
Molly Goracke, a student who attended the training, had this to say about the experience.
“I thought that the e-filing training was very helpful. It gave a great picture as to what the court filing system will soon be like all over Minnesota. It was helpful to see how to properly file documents, and how everyone in an office can be linked together to view filed documents. Electronically filing documents allows for easy access to view documents that have been filed. I think e-filing will be beneficial for law offices, and these trainings will be useful for other soon to be paralegals in the future.”
