Mindless zombies, potion-brewing witches, and cute little lady bugs are expected visitors this Halloween at Minnesota School of Business in Elk River for the first annual Trunk-or-Treat community event.
“We wanted to create a safe trick-or-treating environment for the Elk River community,” said campus communications specialist Kayla Stai. “We held a similar event last year for our students and it was such a hit we decided to invite local businesses and the community to participate this year.”
Several events will take place, with the main event consisting of the campus’s parking lot being turned into a ghouly treat feeding-ground where area businesses will be situated.
About 12 local businesses have registered for the event and will turn the trunks of their vehicles into scenes that scream, “It’s Halloween!” The businesses will also have representatives dressed in costume handing out treats to all of the trick-or-treaters.
Registered businesses include:
- Re/Max Results
- Kiser Construction
- Tastefully Simple
- Sweet Peas
- Liberty Tax
- Land Of Lakes Choirboys
- Accurate Home Care
- DARE Funeral Home
- United Way-Sherburne County
- New Horizons Academy
- Culvers – Elk River
- Minnesota School of Business – Elk River
Additionally, Minnesota School of Business is hosting a haunted classroom and ghoul school inside of the campus. The haunted classroom will consist of a dark maze through a classroom with flying objects, real bodies, and plenty of screams. Only the brave and those seeking a good scare should enter here.
For younger children, the main lounge will hold ghoul school where kids can color and work on an arts and crafts project. Hot cider and cookies will also be available for everyone in the ghoul school.
The community is invited to start trick-or-treating at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, and the event will end at 7 p.m. Parking is available on the south end of Minnesota School of Businesses’s parking lot and overflow parking is available at Coborns.
Please bring your own bag for collecting treats—a bag will not be provided at the event.
