Kung Pao Chicken and Fortune Cookies: The Taste of Appreciation

Minnesota School of Business Student Appreciation EventOn March 6, staff at Minnesota School of Business-Shakopee held the quarterly Shakopee Commons Café, a student appreciation event that invites all students to “fine dine” by candlelight and enjoy some delicious food. Both lunch and dinner were provided to students who were on campus that day.

The winter quarter event featured Chinese cuisine catered by Shakopee’s own Dragon Café. To enhance the dining experience, the student commons on campus was converted into a full restaurant with hosts, servers, and “kitchen staff,” all of whom were MSB staff members. Students were escorted by the hosts to their tables, where their servers greeted them with lemonade and took their food orders. The Café menu consisted of:

Appetizers: Egg Rolls, Cream Cheese Wontons

Entrées: Vegetable Lo Mein, Kung Pao Chicken

Desserts: Fortune cookies, Almond cookies, Fried Mini Donuts

To make the event even more festive, a cake was brought in during lunch to celebrate general education instructor Bill Arbes’ birthday. Those in attendance joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to Bill.

Faculty also participated in the event, joining their students for the meals. The student appreciation events not only provide a “thank you” to students, but also create a nice opportunity for students, faculty and staff to spend some time getting to know each other.

With Minnesota School of Business’s mission of “We Care” in mind, the student appreciation events on campus are geared at honoring the great dedication that the Shakopee campus students have. The staff and faculty truly appreciate them!
