Students and Campus Honored at Spring Graduation Ceremony

The four graduation ceremonies at Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth (MSB) are the highlights of our year.

The Spring 2013 celebration at the Plymouth Creek Center was one to remember, not only for the 20 graduates present, but also for all of us at MSB.

Plymouth City Council member Judy Johnson presented an official proclamation to Campus Director Adam Schefers naming June 20 “Minnesota School of Business Day” in Plymouth, in honor of the 10th anniversary of our first graduating class.

“Ten years ago, the Myhre family made a commitment to bring quality education and programs to the community of Plymouth, and we’re happy to recognize that here tonight,” Johnson said during the presentation.

The 42nd graduation ceremony in the Plymouth campus’s history embodied our first 10 years perfectly, as students graced the same stage at the Plymouth Creek Center that our first nine graduates did in 2003.

Johnson delivered the keynote speech just as she did at the first commencement ceremony in 2003. Jason Strauch and Jacqueline Ryan followed Johnson’s speech with speeches of their own.

Strauch, a health fitness degree graduate, spoke about his experience as a non-traditional student, the importance of education and fulfilling career dreams of following his passion.

“The reason I wanted to pursue my bachelor’s degree [is] because I knew there was an importance in education,” he said. “The bridge to success is built by the bricks of education, and regardless of what you choose as a profession, you can never hurt yourself by learning more and getting more educated.”

Ryan, a sales and marketing degree honoree, talked about her journey to her degree, overcoming indecision and change.

“Maybe it’s because I’m always changing my mind, but I have surprised even myself by seeing my education through to completion,” she said. “I suppose that in this case it was because there was something I really wanted—to test myself and to pursue a new challenge to learn.”

Twenty of the 27 students that earned degrees participated in the graduation ceremony. Below is a complete list of those that earned diplomas and degrees. In addition, here is the link to all our pictures from the ceremony, hosted on the Plymouth campus Facebook page.
